ABSOLUTE WEBSITE
Student Website: As access to technology increases, the multimedia project is becoming an alternative to the traditional research paper. Teachers and students-even those with minimal computer experience-can use widely available software to create websites.
Class Time: Three to four class periods
Activity: Researching an absolute monarch and building a Web Site dedicated to the monarch and the history of absolutism
Objective: To gain a detailed understanding of the history and philosophy of abolitionism and rule by divine right
Directions:
1. Students will be broken down into groups of three. Each group will be assigned one absolute ruler
2. Each group will research its monarch on the internet
3. Each group will build a website using Weebly or another free web page design tool
4. Each website will include
a. A biography and image of the monarch
b. Definitions of “absolute monarchy” and “divine right” and an explanation of how the monarch’s reign reflected those concepts
c. A list of the monarch’s major accomplishments and legacy for his or her country
5. As a class we will compare and contrast monarchs and their legacies
